BioAlliance Pharma announces the launch of Sitavig® in the United States by its partner Innocutis and the granting of a new U.S. Sitavig® patent
BioAlliance Pharma SA (Euronext Paris - BIO), Société d’innovation spécialisée dans le développement de médicaments visant des pathologies orphelines en cancérologie, annonce le lancement de Sitavig® (acyclovir Lauriad®) aux Etats-Unis par son partenaire commercial, Innocutis Holdings LLC, ainsi que la délivrance pour le produit d’un nouveau brevet par l’Office américain des brevets et des marques.
Quelques semaines après la signature d’un contrat de licence entre les deux sociétés, Innocutis démarre la promotion de Sitavig® dans le traitement de l’herpès labial auprès des dermatologues et des médecins généralistes fortement impliqués en dermatologie.
L’herpès labial est une infection très répandue. De 20 à 40 % de la population adulte souffre d’herpès labial récurrent (1), soit entre 60 et 120 millions de personnes adultes aux Etats-Unis, et représente un marché de 400 à 500 de millions de dollars.

Par ailleurs, BioAlliance Pharma vient d’obtenir la délivrance d’un nouveau brevet américain pour Sitavig®, renforçant ainsi sa protection aux Etats-Unis. Ce brevet vient compléter l’ensemble des 3 brevets déjà délivrés et des demandes en cours, conférant à Sitavig® une exclusivité de marché jusqu’en décembre 2029.

A few weeks after the execution of a licensing agreement between the two companies, Innocutis has begun the promotion of Sitavig® in the U.S. for the treatment of labial herpes to dermatologists and top tier general practitioners.
Herpes labialis is an extremely widespread condition. Between 20% and 40% of the adult population suffer from recurrent cold sores (1), namely from 60 to 120 million people in the U.S., representing a market potential from 400 to 500 million dollars.

Moreover, BioAlliance Pharma was recently granted a new U.S. patent covering Sitavig® and strengthening its U.S. protection. This patent completes a patent portfolio of 3 patents already issued and other pending applications, and confers a commercial exclusivity on Sitavig® until December 2029.
