Become a shareholder

Securities may be held in France in two distinct forms: “Registered” shares and “bearer” shares.

Registered shares

Two possible types:

  • Managed registered shares: The shares are registered in the accounts of the issuing company, but retained by the shareholder’s financial institution who manages them: Download the form to convert your shares to administered shares
  • Fully registered shares: The shares are registered directly and exclusively in the accounts of the issuing company, which allows it to provide personalized service. For a conversion to fully-registered shares, you should ask your broker to complete a fully-registered share conversion form.

Bearer shares

  • Accounts of bearer securities are held by a broker (credit institution or investment firm) and the owners are therefore not known to the issuing company.
